Are Blood Stains And Swelling After A Periodontal Surgery Normal?
Swelling is not unusual after a periodontal surgery. It would be three to four days that the swelling generally subsides. But if the swelling becomes painful and is becoming worse, you should immediately call you dentist. In the first 4 or 5 hours after the periodontal surgery, the dental patient may experience an occasional bloodstains.
If you experience considerable bleeding, you make take a gauze and form it into U shape and hold it in the thumb and index finger, apply it to both sides of the pack, and hold it there under pressure for 20 minutes. Better not remove it or examine it. You should contact your dentist or periodontist if the bleeding continues. Rinsing will not be of help to stop the bleeding.
After the removal of the dental plaque, you will likely experience more bleeding than you did before the surgical procedure and this is perfectly normal. Call the dentist immediately if any problems may arise.
